Kisses.
A pretty straightforward concept, albeit not a simple one: This serie features couples kissing in the streets, in parks, in subway stations or any other public place, pictured in their own context, in the purest form of documentary-style street photography.
After a pandemic and months of social distancing, mandatory face masks, and other severe measures to control the virus and even now with an uncertain economic future the the once deserted streets are regaining life.
In this unusual scenario, the act of kissing rises as an icon, a symbol of the triumph of love and inexorability of life itself despite this ongoing gloomy period. May be seeing love will lift the spirits of many, but especially of the ones who, after such extremely hard times, are still alive but have suffered to a long extent and maybe lost their hope and their mental or emotional health.
We need more than ever, not just to be alive but to have a motivation to live, and I believe that love is a monumental force capable of igniting that vital spark.
This serie was possible thanks a COVID emergency fund grant by National Geographic.
